Acrylic on 16 panels. It can be displayed in many different combinations. I was so very happy to document it today. Swipe to see how happy! A map is a tool for translating terrain into flat assemblies of soil and sea; of peaks and valleys; of borders and properties. Maps feature omissions and compressions, hard lines, and soft forms that I am looking to recover through emphasis, layering, and juxtaposing. How can we develop a multimodal way of map making that accounts for all that inhabit the land it represents? How can we develop a map to express what we have forgotten or do not understand about our world? These are some of the questions that are motivating this creative exploration.
